Biography
For many years, William and Olivier have devoted themselves to music without much success. But they kept working harder and harder even if it seemed to be going nowhere. The band was rehearsing once in a while with a couple of friends and couldn't quite understand the purpose of their union. But now that they have met May and Jean-Frédéric, it's clear. They're here to rock the world with their catchy and groovy songs and their never ending inspiration.
This young musicians have already displayed great maturity and potential for international success thanks to their talent and growing composing skills.
We can already listen to The Garlics on the Los Angeles Sonic Sedition Web Radio, New York’s Jango Web Radio, and this is only the beginning of a long journey for these music aficionados! Having already earned second place in the contest “Exposure Live” at Club Soda in Montreal back in January 2009 and distinguishing themselves from 60 other selected bands, The Garlics have both surprised and impressed many people along the way.
Astonishingly, the band had only formed five weeks before entering the contest! Ever since then, The Garlics have not ceased to amaze audiences with rare quality compositions written by such young musicians and even give the more experimented ones a run for their money. They will also be taking part in an extravagant event: La Relève de Thetford Mines’ Promutual Festival on saturday, August 22nd.
The Garlics is formed by singer May L’-Wells, guitarist Olivier (Oli) Mimeault, bassist William (Will) Gendron-Saulnier, and drummer Jean-Frédéric (J-F) Lamothe. All four members create a winning combination, as energetic and inspired as possible.
All multi-instrumentalists, these young Quebecers master guitar, bass, drums, violin, flute, trombone, and keyboards. While singing and writing in English, The Garlics are far from intimidated. This band is a fantastic discovery and will surely be followed by many for their melodic hooks and their spectacular stage presence.
